Are you a Holcombe or a Holcomb?

We are all family and the genealogy is incredibly well researched!

I was born Vicky J Holcomb in Columbus, Indiana.

My husband's grandmother was a Holcombe and his father's middle name was Holcombe. The family migrated from Devon in the early 1800's to NSW Australia.

I live in southern California--and have traced my ancestry to Symon de Holcombe, born in 1066. Sir John de Holcombe was my 22nd great-grandfather. An ancestor changed the spelling of the family name, when he immigrated to the U.S.

I'm planning to visit Hole, Devon; Holcombe; and Holcombe Rogus as well as the Dorchester Abbey next month. Do you know if the framed "Lineage of the Holcombes of Hole, Devon" is still on display in the Dorchester Abbey?

Many thanks! Joe Halcomb

I am currently researching my family tree. I believe I am a descendent of John Holcombe (Lambertville NJ) who would be my 7th great grandfather.
